Posted one year agoThere aren’t too many cars quite like the Audi S3 Sportback. This practical yet fast family hatchback has been around since the very late 20th century but by the middle of this year, almost two decades on, we will witness the arrival of an updated Audi S3 Sportback. The new S3 Sportback will surely seek to continue the S3 badge heritage of being an upmarket hot hatch which offers both exciting performance and big car luxury in equal portions.
The personal lease Audi S3 sits in-between the standard A3 Sportback and the RS3 ‘super-hatch’ within the overall Audi A3 range. Being a Sportback model it possesses rear doors for the easy entering and exiting of passengers, and a handy 340-litres of boot space, 15-litres up on the standard S3. These additional practicality features make it a slightly better choice for those with a family or active lifestyle, but the core of the S3 Sportback remains the same.
Lying at the core is a powerful 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine producing around 306bhp. This is considerably more than a standard A3 but noticeably less than the angrier and sharper RS3 model which hosts a bigger engine altogether. Of course, for many 300bhp+ is more than enough and certainly quick enough to reach 62mph from a standstill in around 4.7-seconds. The new S3 Sportback arriving later this year also possesses the latest generation of Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system, a lighter and faster setup that promises even more grip in corners or poor road conditions.
While it is far from the largest vehicle Audi produces, the lease Audi S3 Sportback is deceptively roomy, though we would recommend only carrying two passengers in the rear. Both the driver and passengers will be very comfortable though, with Audi’s pristine interiors bound to put a smile on almost anybody’s face. Of course, a fine selection of equipment is provided as standard too, with Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, navigation, cruise control and even options for upgraded sound systems and adaptive dampening there to impress you, whether you’re driving or not.
It’s quick, comfortable and immensely enjoyable to drive on British roads, which makes the Audi S3 Sportback a winner even before you factor in the luxury and quality of Audi’s build quality into the mix.
