Posted 3 years agoIt might seem a bit odd for Audi to build an ‘S’ variant of its large seven-seater SUV, because who needs a faster, more powerful version of a car primarily designed to ship a family from A to B? However, there’s more going on here than you might initially think, as the Audi SQ7 car lease is not just a hotter version of the Q7, it’s also an innovative, intelligent machine with some incredible new technology hiding just under its bodywork.
As with any performance version of an existing car, your attentions will probably first be directed to the engine. This one a big one too, a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo diesel producing 429bhp and a mighty 664lb ft of torque, which gives this large machine the ability to travel to 62mph from stationary in a touch under five seconds. Beyond the sheer power of this unit though, there’s much more to talk about. Audi uses for the first time an electrically powered compressor to force fresh air into the engine to virtually eliminate lag from the response of the SQ7 and support the twin turbos that work sequentially to provide a wide, potent band of torque. Being an Audi, there is of course quattro all-wheel drive as standard and an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.
