Posted 4 years agoFor a good chunk of BMW’s model history, the Bavarian firm was selling a BMW 3-series coupe and convertible that were traditionally strong sellers for the brand. However, in 2013, BMW decided to separate this model into a new name and the BMW 4-series was launched.
The BMW 4-series is almost entirely made up of the same architecture and technology as the popular 3-series but with a stylish coupe or open-top convertible body to go around it. A new name and look helped separate this car out as something a bit more prestigious, and as the 3-series already drove like a sports car, the shared DNA had absolutely no chance of holding the new BMW 4 Series back.
BMW first showed off the new 4-Series designation in coupe form, which is the car we have here. It’s 2 door design helps show off its muscular haunches and it is quite easy to see how this shape brought in new customers to Synergy looking to lease this handsome new BMW. Unsurprisingly, it became an instant success.
Synergy’s lease customers don’t really have to worry about losing too much in the way of practicality if they’re looking at a BMW 4-series coupe as their next vehicle. While it may be missing rear doors, the BMW 4-series still features the same selection of excellent engines as the 3-series, so efficiency and low road tax is still something you can have.
As with many BMW products, the most popular engine choice tends to be the 2.0-litre turbo diesel, badged ‘ BMW 420d’ but there’s still plenty of fun available for those wanting more performance, most noticeably from the 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo petrol engine – badged ‘BMW 440i’. The BMW 420d is still an efficient and strong performing choice though, but those seeking a traditional 6-cylinder engine in their BMW and the extra oomph that goes along with it may well find the 440i difficult to resist.
The BMW 4 Series Coupe M Sport features M light alloy wheels, M-specific steering wheel, shadowline exterior trim and leather upholstery. The BMW 4 Series Coupe Sport presents a more athletic style, with light alloy wheels, black exterior elements, exclusive sport interior trim and front sports seats.
It’s simply no good a Coupe looking good but driving underwhelmingly, but thankfully BMW is world-renowned for producing cars that are engaging and exciting to drive. That doesn’t mean that the BMW 4-series Coupe isn’t calm when it needs to be though, with a variety of options available to customers, the BMW 4-series Coupe fits into just about everyone’s life but always retains a sporty edge that comes to the fore on your favourite roads.
