You’ll have seen plenty of Dacia Sandero’s on the road when you’re out and about on the roads. This little part-French, part-Romanian 5-door hatchback has made a huge impression here in the UK and since the car was introduced in 2013 over 120,000 of them have been sold. As of early 2018, the Dacia Sandero was Europe’s best-selling retail car.
Dacia is a Romanian manufacturer, but the company is owned by Renault and much of the Sandero uses Renault parts and engineering. When it was first released it gained lots of media coverage for its low price, subsequently drawing in an audience that may not have noticed it otherwise. It is a famously and unapologetically simple car that doesn’t try to be something that it isn’t, this is just a great value, practical and efficient car and that’s why it is available at such a great price. It couldn’t have been better received by the British public and Synergy customers.
To power the Sandero, a choice between 2 petrol 3-cylinder engines must be made – one with 74 and one with 89bhp. Both come with 5-speed manual gearboxes, as of writing, there are no automatic boxes available.
Performance focus is on efficiency over anything else, both engines are capable of a little over 50mpg on a combined cycle and the CO2 output is also virtually the same at 123 or 124g/km.
At its entry level, the Dacia Sandero is about as basic as modern cars can get. It comes in one colour, a base white and features only minimum equipment but it also comes at a minimum price.
Trim levels above this are ‘Essential’ and ‘Comfort’, the latter of which is the top of the range. It features a touchscreen multimedia system with navigation with UK mapping, parking sensors and cruise control with a speed limiter.
