Posted 4 years agoSince the first Ford Focus arrived in 1998, more than 2,000,000 models have found homes across the UK. Many of them were hatchbacks, but the Focus is also offered as an estate, providing extra space and added practicality for those who really need it.
Ford has now had more than 2 decades to work on the Focus, so it will come as no surprise to discover that the current 4th generation of Focus is the best the American company has ever produced. On top of that, the Focus has always had an attractive, eye-catching design since its launch and the new model is yet another great piece of work from the Ford design department.
You can order a new Ford Focus estate with a variety of trim levels, and it is available in both hatchback and estate form. This is the estate, with an improved load capacity of 575-litres that can reach as high as 1,620-litres when you fold down the rear seats - more than enough for a good trip to the recycling centre.
One of the trim levels that is catching the eye for many Synergy customers is the new ‘Active’. The Active dresses in a very similar way to Audi’s ‘allroad’ trim, being a car with a raised ride height and black plastic around the wheels giving it an appearance akin to an SUV. The sporty looking ST-Line trim is also popular with customers, and the luxurious Vignale model never fails to attract attention.
You’ll find both petrol and diesel engines are available for selection underneath the bonnet of the Focus estate. The multi-award winning 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo Ecoboost is a very popular choice nowadays. It may only have the footprint of an A4-sized piece of paper, but it is capable of putting out up to 138bhp in some trims – more than enough to cater for most needs. Diesel drivers will probably like to go for the 1.5-litre diesel, particularly if looking for a business lease agreement, as its low 91g/km of CO2 emissions make it excellent value for money.
Ford has put a lot of work into improving the automatic gearbox option for the new Focus estate. The automatic was often a criticism in older models of Ford Focus, but now there’s an all-new transmission that’s much faster and smoother than the gearbox of old. Featuring 8 forward gears, changes are virtually seamless, and its special software allows it to adapt and learn from the habits of its driver.
Stylish, good to drive and excellent value for money, the Ford Focus estate has been a winner for a long time now, and it has simply never been stronger than it is now.
