This very exciting new addition to the Synergy family is from Genesis, a luxury car brand owned by Hyundai. Its cars are all really good-looking, stacked with equipment and designed and built by some of the brightest minds in the automotive industry. Its designers have names like Bentley and Lamborghini on their CVs, but there’s more to this car than looks alone. With its price, equipment, fit and finish, sporty, muscular stance, powerful engines and an athletic handling balance, the Genesis G70 saloon is a strong rival for just about any other car occupying the segment. It’s the complete package.
Genesis has three different engines on offer in the G70 saloon, consisting of one diesel and one petrol engine with two different outputs. Petrol is expected to be the more popular choice between the fuel options, and the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo for the G70 saloon is available with either 194 or 241bhp. Both outputs are pretty strong for a car of this category and ensure excellent performance out on the road, and come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. The diesel engine here, a 2.2-litre turbo with 197bhp, also comes with the the 8-speed automatic and features superior CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency over the petrol cars, perhaps making it the powertrain of choice for Synergy’s business lease customers. All Genesis G70 saloons are rear-wheel driven, so you get that beautiful balanced feel when cornering.
Along with the rest of the Genesis range, the new G70 saloon features a special interior design that looks quite unlike anything else at the moment. The South Korean firm claims that the design is inspired by its native architecture, describing it as its “white space” design philosophy. Regardless of how it’s described, what Genesis delivers here are interiors that focus heavily on personal space and the clever integration of modern technology.
