Jeep Renegade Business & Personal Car Leasing Offers
So, you fancy a chunky, stylish Jeep SUV but right now, you’ve only room for a smaller vehicle? Don’t worry, because Jeep produces the Renegade, a subcompact SUV with the same great looks of the full-sized Jeep distilled into a smaller package.
The covers were first removed from the Renegade at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2014 and not that long afterwards it was available to order. In 2018 it received a slight update to keep the infotainment system fresh, make some minor tweaks to the styling and introduce the new ‘FireFly’ engine series.
Both of these new petrol engines – a 118bhp 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo named ‘T3’ and the slightly larger 148 or 178bhp 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbo named ‘T4’ – are expected to become more and more popular in the future and replace older petrol units in the range. Most Synergy customers prefer their Renegade’s to be front-wheel driven only, as this saves on efficiency, but if you do want all-wheel drive and off-road capability, the 2.0-litre diesel engine is your option and the increased levels of torque and power are much better for tougher terrains. A 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic transmission make up the gearbox options.
While the Renegade is capable of some gentle off-roading, its primary goal is to be a comfortable, settled road-going SUV. Synergy customers looking for the best off-roading potential should look at the ‘Trailhawk’. This top of the range Renegade offers ‘Trail Rated’ all-wheel drive, Jeep’s ‘Selec-Terrain’ system with its locking differential, low range mode, hill descent control and the ability to tune torque settings to the terrain underneath you.
If off-roading isn’t for you, then one of the 3 trim levels catering for tarmac are a better bet. ‘Sport’, ‘Longitude’ and ‘Limited’ all come with front-wheel drive only setups which is better for efficiency. Limited models get extra luxuries on top of the standard specification, such as dual-zone climate control, cruise control, forward collision warning, LED headlights, heated leather seats, the Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, DAB Radio, and smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
In many ways the Jeep Renegade is the quintessential modern-day SUV. Small, hugely stylish and well equipped. However, with Jeep’s legendary off-road knowhow, it can also prove itself in challenging environments – something its rivals can’t always boast.
