Frequently asked questions regarding vehicle maintenance

• What is maintenance as part of a vehicle leasing agreement?

  Maintenance packs are an optional extra which can be added to a car or van leasing contract to cover routine maintenance, servicing and MOT. There are also different tyre policies included, which could be wear only, fair play or no quibble (includes repairs and punctures).

  Maintenance is a popular product with customers who do not want the hassle of shopping around for routine servicing, maintenance or MOT, and who would prefer to spread the cost of these services over the term of their leasing agreement. 

  In many cases, a maintenance contract can also save you money overall and they frequently offer excellent value to our clients through peace of mind and easy collection and return of your vehicle when its time for its service, all organised through one easy phone call.

• What is included in a maintenance leasing contract?

  Maintenance contracts vary by provider, but as a guide they usually cover:

  • Routine servicing and maintenance for the duration of the contract
  • Mechanical and electrical repairs (not covered by the warranty)
  • Fair Play / Wear only Tyres (dependent on plan*)
  • Accident Management
  • Breakdown Recovery
  • Exhausts & Batteries
  • Vehicle collection & delivery for maintenance and servicing
  • MOT tests (3 years+ only)
  • Roadside Assistance & Breakdown Cover
• What is excluded in a maintenance leasing contract?

  Levels of cover vary by provider, however, generally there are some exclusions from a maintenance contract including:

  • Non fair wear and tear (i.e. body/trim damage, broken glass)
  • Driver error or negligence
  • Misfuelling / run out of fuel
  • Fluid top-up between services (including Ad Blue, Lubricants & Oils)
  • Missed servicing
  • Missing or damaged items
  • Clutches under 75,000 miles
  • Flywheels
  • DPF and Catalytic Converters
  • Vehicle glass
• Is maintenance covered by the manufacturer’s warranty?

  When you lease a car with Synergy Car Leasing, it will come with a warranty. This is the manufacturer's warranty, and usually lasts for three years. However, this varies depending on manufacturer and mileage terms.

  The manufacturer’s warranty however does not cover your routine servicing, and any components and tyres that wear out gradually due to normal usage.

  As a condition of the leasing agreement, all vehicles cars should be maintained and serviced in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines at an approved dealership or garage.  The vehicle should be returned at the end of the lease in line with the finance provider’s ‘Fair Wear and Tear’ policy. Any form of glass, bodywork, paint or interior trim damage will not be covered by the Fair Wear and Tear policy.

• Will maintenance cover MOT costs?

  Yes, if you have a maintenance agreement on your lease car then the MOT is covered. However, a MOT will only be required three years after the date the car was registered and can be organised through your maintenance provider.

• Who carries out the servicing and maintenance?

  For lease vehicles with a maintenance contract in place, any work on your vehicle will be carried out by a qualified technician at an accredited garage or franchised dealer.  Phone your maintenance provider, and they will book your car in for its routine service at an approved garage near to you, at a convenient date and time.

• Does maintenance include windscreen repair?

  No, unfortunately it does not, but you should be able to contact your insurance company who should be able to assist with this.
