When the first images of the new Mercedes-Benz A Class Hatchback were released back in 2018, there was an instant buzz around both the leasing industry and the general public. The new car was radically different to many modern hatchbacks, with an interior to make jaws drop and technology and style that appeals to a broad range of people. This is a truly premium compact car, about as desirable as machines get here at Synergy.
The new Mercedes-Benz A Class hatchback is part of the 4th generation of the Mercedes A-Class nameplate, a name that has been around since 1997. Along with the new Mercedes saloon body style, this new Mercedes A-Class Hatchback has one sole aim, to bring the famous Mercedes-Benz luxury finish and styling into a compact package without any compromises, and we’re pleased to say it does so successfully.
While it’s usually the exterior design that captures the public’s opinion, with the Mercedes A-Class Hatchback it’s actually the interior that draws in the crowds. This completely new design is something that Mercedes-Benz itself describes as ‘modern, avant-garde’, with its simple, elegant layout shown off at its best by the 2 large digital displays that dominate the dashboard. Of course, it’s been equipped with technology just as advanced as you’ll find on even the flagship Mercedes-Benz models and is also deceptively spacious, utilising fine materials for the finish of the cabin that gives it a true Mercedes-Benz feel.
The Mercedes-Benz A Class Hatchback SE’s features a signature black diamond grille, infotainment system, luxurious black leather seats and matching black leather steering wheel. The Mercedes-Benz A Class Hatchback Sport includes the same dynamic technology as the Mercedes A Class Hatchback SE model but also includes performance headlights, 17” alloy wheels and sports steering wheel with carbon-fibre style trim. The Mercedes A Class Hatchback AMG Line includes all of the above plus keyless entry, augmented reality navigation system and advance sound system.
Power is sourced from a choice of petrol or diesel engines, with just one of the latter available – the Mercedes A Class A180d. This 114bhp turbo diesel engine is built with efficiency in mind, making it a far better choice for Synergy customers with higher mileage lease agreements. In the petrol models, there’s a choice of a 160 or 221bhp engine, with 6-speed manual gearboxes provided as standard, though a 7-speed automatic is available as an optional extra.
Thrill-seeking Synergy customers may be tempted to look at the more powerful versions of the Mercedes A-Class, some of the most potent ‘hot hatches’ on the market today. In the hotter models, 4MATIC all-wheel drive is available to help direct the power evenly among the wheels, but this option is also available to Synergy customers looking at the standard Mercedes A-Class models. Paired with winter tyres, concerns over low-grip levels in the winter are almost a thing of the past.
