Many of us look up to the great racing drivers and marques, both of past and present. If you know motorsport at all, you’ll know Mercedes-Benz is a name that crops up frequently. In the early years of Grand Prix racing, Mercedes-Benz was one of the dominant forces, its cars being nicknamed by the German press ‘Silver Arrows’. Currently, Mercedes-AMG dominates modern Formula 1 taking both the World Driver’s Championship and World Constructors Championship multiple times in the last few years.
If you’re a Synergy customer wanting your own ‘Silver Arrow’ for the road, you should look no further than the Mercedes-AMG GT. This high-performance creation from the Mercedes-Benz performance division offers power, grace and exhilaration in a superb overall road-going product and is available as a 2-door coupe – though special edition roofless ‘Roadster’ versions have also been released in the past.
Being a Mercedes-AMG creation, its engine – a 4.0-litre biturbo V8 – is hand built by specialist AMG technicians at the Germany. Each engine receives a plaque bearing the signature of the engine builder upon completion. Only around 50 engineers are qualified to hand build an AMG engine, which comes in varying states of tune from 465 to 582bhp depending on the GT model you choose. If you’re seeking the closest thing to Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes-AMG F1 car, you’ll want the GT R, the most extreme version of the GT, tuned for maximum performance and available in the visually stunning ‘Green Hell Magno’ paint – so named after the famous Nordschleife circuit, regarded as the world’s most challenging racetrack.
Being a Mercedes, the AMG GT doesn’t skip on luxury and the materials, design and construction are just as impressive as the engineering. Despite all its power and abilities as a performance car, it is accessible and easy to drive in everyday conditions and shaped to appeal and draw admiring gazes in every environment.
