Fans of Formula 1 may look at this car and get a tinge of familiarity about its appearance, and they’d have good reason to, as in its coupe form this is the car that serves as the sport’s safety and medical car.
If you love performance machines like this Mercedes-AMG then there’s a very good chance that you’re also a fan of motorsport. If that’s the case, this car will be right up your street due to its pedigree and historical relevancy. If you know motorsport at all, you’ll know Mercedes is a name that appears frequently through history, from the early years of Grand Prix racing, all the way up to the current era of Formula 1, where it has taken consecutive World Driver’s and World Constructor’s Championships.

A special car deserves a special engine, and you won’t be disappointed with what you find under the bonnet here. The 4.0-litre biturbo V8 is hand built by specialist AMG technicians at the Germany, with each engine finished off with a plaque bearing the signature of the engine builder upon its completion. There’s only around 50 engineers qualified to do this special job, to hand build an AMG engine, which, in AMG GT C form boasts 554bhp, enough for a 0-62mph time of 3.7-seconds. If you’re seeking the closest Mercedes model to Lewis Hamilton’s legendary Mercedes-AMG F1 car, then this is probably it.
At the end of the day, a Mercedes is still a Mercedes and so you won’t find any shortage of comforts in the AMG GT. The soft top can be opened and closed at speeds of up to 30mph in just 11-seconds, and the design and construction of the cabin is as good as you’ll find in any sports car. It’s never intimidating either, despite its huge power and dynamic abilities, when driven normally it is completely accessible and easy to drive for just about anyone with a driver’s license.
