S-Class - one of the finest luxury vehicles ever created.
There are few cars in the world that have a reputation to uphold quite like the Mercedes S-Class. ‘S-Class’ as a name basically means ‘special vehicle’ and if Mercedes-Benz is calling a car special, that should let you know what you’re in for straight off the bat. More than that though, the S-Class is Mercedes-Benz’s flagship model, the car that shows off exactly what the brand is capable of and as such it must be able to stake a claim for being the best car in the world.
On the outside, it’s unmistakably 100% Mercedes-Benz, with the recognisable features of a Mercedes exterior easily visible to all, it’s the inside where things really start to get interesting. Open the door to an S-Class and you’ll be presented with one of the finest interior spaces on the market, a beautiful arrangement of leather and high-quality plastics and metals that leaves some models from other luxury firms blushing. South of a Bentley or a Rolls-Royce, there’s little else to rival the inside of an S-Class.
Beneath the stunning interior lies an array of technological features to take the strain out of driving. Seats can be heated and ventilated and come with a massage feature, the driving assistance package gives semi-autonomous capabilities to the car, air suspension provides supreme ride comfort, and Burmester surround sound can fill the cabin with your favourite tracks. This is just a short list of the features the S-Class possesses, this is Mercedes showing exactly what it can do.
There are engines used to power such a car that are naturally rather special indeed, but the most popular engine for the S-Class is actually the entry level 6-cylinder turbo diesel, not for its performance figures, but for the fact that it is almost silent when travelling. Synergy customers looking for more performance should cast their eyes towards the AMG versions of the car that come with either a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, or a monumental 6.0-litre V12 – both very special engines in their own right.
An S-Class is a truly special car in a segment that already hosts some very special machines – the BMW 7-series, Jaguar XJ, and Audi A8 are all superb machines too. What you prefer is ultimately down to personal taste, but the S-Class has been the model all rivals look towards for inspiration and targets. Quite simply, it’s a motoring masterpiece.
