Mini Countryman Business & Personal Car Leasing Offers
Being a Mini that’s also an SUV, the Countryman is the true definition of a crossover.
After Mini had re-established itself following its rebirth under BMW, the new Mini brand began to experiment with new versions of its products and even new cars entirely. The Mini Countryman appeared at the beginning of the decade, seeking to capitalise on the surging wave of popularity for SUVs and crossovers.
The definition of a crossover applies perfectly to the Countryman, where the classic Mini shape and styling has been blended with the design of an SUV to produce something that’s in the middle. While it might seem strange to outsiders, the decision was a huge hit with customers and the Countryman became one of Mini’s absolute best-selling products. In 2017, Mini launched a second generation of the Countryman, and it remains one of the firm’s most popular cars.
As a compact SUV, the Mini Countryman isn’t intended to be a true off-road machine, but Mini does provide the option of all-wheel drive on some models, with those models available in petrol and diesel engines. A plug-in hybrid engine is also available, with over 220bhp and a fuel efficiency rating over 88bhp. Aside from the ‘PHEV’ Mini which uses a 3-cylinder engine, all petrol and diesels are 2.0-litre and 4-cylinder in size, with the ‘S’ petrol model producing just short of 200bhp, a beefy amount for those who like to appreciate the Countryman’s sharp handling characteristics. A 6-speed manual appears as the standard transmission, though an 8-speed automatic is available as an option and is also the only available gearbox for the PHEV.
Standard equipment for the Countryman consists of air conditioning, Navigation, Bluetooth, DAB digital radio, Apple CarPlay, rear parking sensors and Mini Connected Services. A 450-litre boot allows for a good loading capacity and the Countryman also received 5-stars in its Euro NCAP crash testing. At additional cost you can get equipment such as a heads-up display and parking cameras, and as with all cars a step up to higher trim levels will see additional equipment included at no extra cost.
