Synergy celebrates World Mental Health Day 2024
The team at Synergy celebrated World Mental Health Day by coming to work in bright colours, to highlight the importance of good mental health in the workplace. As part of our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, Synergy has developed a People’s Forum run by team members from across different departments at Synergy. Our People’s Forum’s objectives are to:
- Contribute to Synergy’s diversity and inclusion goals
- Build an inclusive and respectful workplace
- Foster a sense of belonging among our employees
- Promote understanding and respect
- Give back to the community
World Mental Health Day has given Synergy the opportunity to review how it can support its team with mental health in the workplace.
Nicola Ech-Channa, Marketing & Communications Director and sponsor of the Synergy People’s Forum states: “We recognise the importance of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace for our people, and we also know that its importance to the performance of the business. We have recently introduced a menopause policy and wellbeing policy, we are committed to building a team of mental health first responders, and, with the support of the People’s Forum, we have lots of new ideas to further explore in this area.”
Navinder Singh Aujla, Senior Compliance Manager and People’s Forum Lead states: “World Mental Health Day has allowed us to remind our staff of the support available to them at Synergy. This includes our confidential employee assistance programme (EAP) offering online and telephone counselling and information on many wellbeing and life management subjects. Our team can also access as optional online training modules on a whole range of wellbeing and mental health topics.”
Ellie Tucker, Account Manager at Synergy and member of the People’s Forum added: “Mental Health is such an important topic and will affect us all or someone close to us throughout our lives. We spend such a lot of time at work, and Synergy has a great team of people who are available to support each other. It’s fantastic to see so many people across the company coming together wearing bright colours.”
Other recent activities run by the People’s Forum include a team Gender and Equality quiz, as well as a Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning, raising over £500, partly match-funded by Synergy. The overall winner was Finance Director Adam Whiteley’s Lamb and Feta Pastry Roll, with the sweet category prize going to Content Marketing Executive Oscar Bellerby’s Biscoff Flapjacks.
