The epitome of sporting elegance and luxury, the Porsche Panamera is one of motoring’s modern masterpieces.
In 1988, Porsche began development on a 4-door saloon that it hoped would rival the likes of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Jaguar’s finest creations. A concept car was produced - called the 989 – that demonstrated what the developed product may look like. However, after internal changes at Porsche, the project was scrapped in 1992.
In 2009, Porsche launched the Panamera, a car considered to be the long-awaited follow-up to the 989 concept. It was a four-door saloon with curvaceous looks and sports car drivability, and it became hugely popular for its refinement, dynamic abilities and luxury finish.
2017 saw the arrival of the second generation of the Panamera saloon, as well as the Sport Turismo - an estate-bodied version. The styling is very reminiscent of the legendary 911 sports car and the powertrains found under the bonnet range are only powerful petrol and hybrids, diesel power has been dropped.
Like with the majority of the Porsche family, the Porsche Panamera car leasing range is complex and can be hard to understand if you’re not familiar with it. That 675bhp figure actually comes from the most powerful hybrid – the Turbo S E-Hybrid – and it is one of the most powerful machines Porsche has ever created.
As a rough guide, models marked with an ‘S’ are more powerful standard engine, ‘E-Hybrid’ marked cars use petrol and electric hybrid units combined, ‘GTS’ are sport-orientated, driver focused models, ‘4’ denotes an all-wheel drive model, and ‘Turbo’ a high output, high horsepower model.
