Posted 2 months agoIf you like cars even a little, tiny bit, you’ll know the name Toyota Supra. The Supra is a Japanese sports car legend, a vehicle with a prestigious history. From the racetracks of the All-Japan GT Championship to the illegal street races of the Tokyo tuning scene, the Toyota Supra is an iconic vehicle, and, for a long time, Toyota stopped making it.
It seems odd that Toyota stopped making the Supra for more than 17 years, especially given the vehicle had such a fervent, passionate fanbase. That’s exactly what happened between 2002 and 2019 though, when the car we have here was introduced - the 5th generation lease Toyota GR Supra.
This new Toyota GR Supra lease has been built in collaboration with BMW, a brand with more than a few performance icons up its sleeve. Toyota’s own Tetsuya Tada was actually the Chief Engineer behind the new GR Supra car leasing offers, the man who also did the superb Toyota GT-86 sports car. The car itself is heavily based on the latest BMW Z4, using its platform and engines.
On the topic of the engines, although they’re BMW-sourced, Toyota actually made significant changes to them itself in order to achieve the performance and feel they wanted for their new sports car. There’s two to choose from when opting for a Toyota Supra lease deal- a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo with 254bhp, or a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbo with a beefy 335bhp. Both engines make use of the excellent 8-speed gearbox from ZF and are built close to Graz, Austria. The top speed of the Toyota GR Supra lease offers, regardless of your engine selection, is a limited 155mph, but the 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine is naturally going to be quicker to 62mph, with its 4.3-second sprint time trumping the 2.0-litre’s 5.2-seconds.
In truth, both of the Toyota GR Supra coupe lease deals offer some seriously impressive performance and the front-engine, rear-wheel drive driving experience the GR Supra nameplate has always historically offered. It’s a potent driver’s car, fun, engaging and the sort of car that leaves you grinning at all times. A low-slung driving position and a curvaceous body shape leave you with no doubt about the character of the vehicle you’re piloting.
