Posted one year agoBack in the mid-1990’s Toyota’s European design department was working on a ‘fun’ project. It was in charge of developing the Toyota ‘Funtime’ concept car, a car that was displayed in 1997, before going on to evolve into the production version of the Toyota Yaris, a car that debuted in Britain just before the turn of the millennium.
With its spacious interior and cool, modern dashboard layout, the Toyota Yaris car lease deals were an instant success. Everyone loved it and it was one of the finest superminis of its era. Since then, it has kept its place in the Toyota stable, evolving to feature hybrid technology – a pillar of Toyota’s motoring philosophy.
You can still secure our Toyota Yaris lease offers without the inclusion of hybrid technology, but it is becoming increasingly popular to favour the electrification. The Yaris’s hybrid layout includes a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol and an electric motor for a combined output approaching 100bhp, CO2 emissions of just 84g/km, and a combined WLTP fuel efficiency rating of 56mpg. While it isn’t the most powerful of units, its efficiency and low CO2 emissions assist greatly with running costs and it isn’t yet particularly common to find a car of this size fitted with such technology, it is no surprise that our Toyota Yaris hybrid lease deals are hugely popular.
As Toyota doesn’t have much faith in diesel power, the only other engine option is the same 1.5-litre unit offered without hybridisation, and that produces an extra 10bhp over the hybrid. You can have it with a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox at additional cost. The hybrid is an automatic-only option.
Currently, Toyota Yaris car leasing is celebrating its 20th birthday. To mark the occasion, 100 of 1,998 ‘Y20’ models have been offered to the UK. These bi-tone models come with ‘Y20’ badging and seat embossing, as well as a limited run of colours and additional equipment to mark the occasion. You’ll have to act quickly if you’d like to lease one, as they won’t be around for long, though there are also 5 other trim levels to choose from. Crucially, the hybrid technology is offered in all models and isn’t assigned to the upper trim levels, unlike other manufacturers.
