Posted 3 months agoWe all love a hot hatch here at Synergy. In fact, we think everyone actually loves a hot hatch, including our many Volkswagen Golf GTI business and personal lease customers. There’s another level to the GTI, however, should you wish to find it. That level is known as the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport, available here in hatchback form, of course. It’s a specialised, tuned version of the GTI that offers a little extra spice in what is already a pretty potent chili sauce of a car.
The new Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport hatchback is Volkswagen’s little offering up to the GTI enthusiasts of the world. Volkswagen has performed a slight style upgrade to the exterior of the car, making it more recognisable in the “if you know, you know” sense. It’s distinguishable enough from a standard GTI, and looks noticeable enough to other car enthusiasts to be seen as something a little familiar, yet different. To everyone else, it simply looks cool - especially when riding on the optional 19-inch “Adelaide” or “Estoril” alloy wheels. At the time of writing, 13 different paints are available, with solid, metallic, and premium options for your Clubsport.
This is the 8th generation of the Volkswagen Golf, and the GTI Clubsport hatchback is based upon the latest Golf, of course. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine producing close to 300bhp, which is enough to give it a 0-62mph sprint time of 5.6-seconds. It’s a front-wheel driven car and its transmission is one of Volkswagen’s famous 7-speed DSG double-clutch units, famous for their lightning fast gear changes. In a car like this, it’s the perfect companion.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport hatchback is still a hatchback of course and perfectly capable of family duties, with different driving modes, it can be very tame and quiet, though it can easily be made to switch to a racier feel whenever the driver wishes. There’s the same 5 seats and a reasonably sized boot as in all Golf models, and the latest technology and creature comforts in the cabin too, including a touchscreen navigation system and ambient lighting featuring up to 30 colours to choose from.
