Posted 3 weeks agoIt’s not everyday that Volkswagen adds a whole new vehicle to its illustrious line up, but that’s the case with this - the brand new Volkswagen Multivan. The Multivan is a people-carrying vehicle with room for 7 (or 6, as an option), a stylish look, and a high-quality fit and finish. It actually replaces the outgoing Volkswagen Caravelle.
The brand new Volkswagen Multivan has no history to speak of, so we can only focus on the present when speaking about it. One thing’s for sure - Volkswagen has gone all-out to make sure that this new vehicle puts a truly stylish spin on the people carrying category, a corner of the market so long considered void of styling and fashion. Clearly taking a little inspiration here and there from the legendary Sambabus, the Multivan, particularly in the eye-catching two-tone colour scheme, looks really, really cool. Not many 7-seaters can say the same.
Perhaps the most exciting feature of the Multivan lies under the bonnet though. It’s a plug-in hybrid, pairing a 1.4-litre TSI turbo petrol engine with a 85kW motor to offer around 215bhp and an all-electric range of up to 30-miles. With a wall box at home, the lithium-ion battery can be fully recharged in around three and a half hours. Both 1.5 and 2.0-litre turbo petrol engines are available, as is a diesel, but it’s really this plug-in hybrid option that is the most exciting and likely the most popular choice for Synergy’s business and personal leasing customers.
Inside, Volkswagen has outfitted the new Multivan with a really high-quality interior. It’s a very tidy design, typical of all Volkswagen’s in that sense, but new trims, materials, and two-tone leather seating give it a realy special feel. Volkswagen has also made efforts to improve ergonomics, with focus paid to the infotainment and controls, storage, and seating. A panoramic sunroof is also present, equipped with special laminated safety glass to cut down on the amount of thermal radiation coming into the cabin. The clever additions don’t end there, as Volkswagen has also made sure that the two sliding doors of the Multivan can open with a kick, thanks to sensors underneath the doors.
